ABOUT US
CEO and founder Chris Oxendine worked for over 35 years in North Carolina’s Department of Public Safety providing various communities with responsible, conscious, and indiscriminate protective services. Oxendine retired from the state in 2023 and founded OX Security to continue his passion for serving those in need.
Oxendine was born and raised in Robeson County to a loving family and community of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. Oxendine graduated from UNC Pembroke after completing his honorable service in the United States Marine Corp. After graduation, Oxendine began his work for the state of North Carolina and retired as Director of the Department of Public Safety.
Oxendine has a large – supportive network of family, friends, and former co-workers devoted to his vision for accountable security services.

Experience
- Director Field Operations (NCDAC/NCDPS/NCDCS), Responsibilities include Fiscal, Personnel, and Training for Statewide agency with >2300 (Sworn and Non-Certified Staff)
- Career experience includes the following positions in State Agency: Director, Dep. Director, Division Administrator, Judicial District Manager, Chief Officer, Intensive Officer, Probation Officer, and Counselor Technician. All positions related to custody of inmates and released offenders (Adult/Juvenile). Supervision performed (Custody/Community)
- Provided oversight and approval for policies and implementation for >120K adjudicated offenders, officer safety, public safety, program services, special operations, human resource management (e.g., disciplinary and employee relations), and agency operational policies.
- Primary Responder to inquiries from NC Governor’s office, Legislators, Judges, and NCDPS Secretary
- FEMA and NC Emergency Response POC for security requests, including Sworn/Certified Armed Officers
- Interim Director of Statewide Record Center for NCDPS. Sworn into office by NC Secretary of State. Records include information from Prisons, the Parole Commission, NCDOJ, NCAG, and law enforcement agencies (Federal, State, and County)

- Directed Security for close custody Juveniles in a Detention Center
- Directed Armed Supervision of released inmates from the NC Prison System and NC Courts
- Directed security for Vaccine Sites by providing Armed Officers implementing facility safety, first aid, threat response, (24hr) security patrols, and FEMA liaisons for each site in NC.
